The Flora Vista area is comprised of about a dozen
neighborhoods. The map below shows how they are situated. Almost all of the homes were built
in the 1980s, though New Villanitas was built in the mid 1970s, and Encinitas Highlands (Scott Place and
StarFlower) was built in the 1990s. The green spaces, pools, tennis courts, and tot lots abound, and some kids also use
the school yard for play. One of the main reasons why people with school children choose to live in the Flora Vista area is because Flora Vista Elementary is TRULY a neighborhood school. Parents walk their kids to school in the morning, and some of the old children ride their bicycles. The great fact is that no one needs to cross El Camino Real, and the distance to the school is small. Some moms and dads will catch up with each other at the school flagpole after the kids go to class! Townhomes (or twinhomes) sharing a common wall in the middle, can be found in the Summerhill, Seagate Village, Vida Pacifica, and Galeria communities. If you want less yard space and don't mind having a common wall with a neighbor, these homes are less expensive and share the same great school and community. The rest of the neighborhoods are detached homes. |

One of the great things about the neighborhood is the local
shopping that is available within a one minute car drive. Grocery stores, banks, restaurants, movie theatre,
and home supplies are all available on El Camino.
Of course the 7 Eleven on Mountain Vista is even closer
for quick supplies as well as Slurpees for the kids (and grownups, too)!We are so lucky to have so much available at such convenience. Much of Encinitas (and Carlsbad, too) has to drive to the shopping that is just down the street for us. In addition to the major stores, there are also a myriad of shops owned by locals, including many of our neigbhors. Please support these stores when possible; you might also want to check out our Local Business of the Month page! |
